A man who is believed to have been a suspect in a Gulfport murder reportedly turned a gun on himself when Jones County Sheriff’s Department personnel entered the residence in the 2700 block of North 5th Avenue in Laurel to take him into custody just after noon on Friday. The JCSD responded to the residence at the request of the U.S. Marshals Service after that agency received a tip on the suspect’s location, sources with knowledge of the incident said.
